BDS VirCon was founded in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, in 1964 as Brisbane Drafting Service and was one of the first independent steel detailing firms in Australia and the world. As steel fabrication companies progressively outsourced their drafting needs, BDS VirCon grew and today provides services to fabricators, engineers and general contractors, globally.

After more than 45 years of successful operation BDS Steel Detailing changed its name to BDS VirCon in February 2009. The new name recognises the virtual construction, rebar detailing, forensic modelling and animation services we provide in addition to our core steel detailing services.

BDS VirCon now has a strong international presence in four continents, robust technology driven processes and a highly skilled and experienced workforce. It is one of the world’s major consultancies for large and complex steel projects in the US, Australian and UK markets. The BDS VirCon brand in detailing is synonymous with quality and is recognised worldwide as a preferred service provider on complex industrial and commercial projects.

BDS VirCon focuses primarily on detailing and modelling large, complex projects where technical competence, experience and access to a large pool of experienced and well trained personnel is critical to success. Through the establishment of quality systems and maximising the use of technology, BDS VirCon works on major projects across multiple time zones, allowing us to produce quality drawings and models on time and on budget.
